Left Higbees around 7 with 22 traps and chicken and headed under the bridge. Dropped the traps and ran into a school of stripers. 2 casts, 2 stripers.  Another cast and my buddy Scott comes tight and I hooked into a herring. Never caught one on a lure before and Scott lands another striper about 17". Started pulling the traps and it was awesome with many doubles and nice sized. Water temps were 64-68 . Fall crabbing is on.

Barnegat bay, in between the BI and BB markers. Right in front of the power plant. Was targeting the tasty treats and as the photo shows, they were thick. Keep 15 large keepers and threw back 60 - 80 of them. ( to small) Caught well over 100 - 200 using 1 crab trap. Seen where they where catching them on the municipal dock crabbing and gave it a shot. It worked. Just like back in the early 70ís when you rented a rowboat and would come back with hundreds.

Nice report.
I still cannot find the stripers back there.   I've checked the sandbars and beyond.
