Buoy line length
«

Some bit of advice on line length for shallow waters would be great. I set my pots for about 10 ft with an extra 4 ft tide variance (using leaded line) and had to find a spot that fit that criteria. Should I have longer line for deeper waters and it will naturally sink if I place it shallows? What's the advice for wire trap gear setup for crabbing around NSB? I really want to mitigate the possibility of submerged or partially submerged buoys when it's high tide.
Thanks

I have 25' of rope on each trap. I let out enough line to match water depth plus a few extra feet. I wrap the excess line around trap float, and lock it into notches that are cut in the float to hold it, and keep it from unwinding.

Thanks! Could you post a pic of your setup for tying your extra line to the buoy? The buoys down here are mainly just the 6 inch ball type.

I figured you would have a shop like that.
Shame I cleaned up in mine yesterday.

As long as you can find [shiz] when you need it, then that is all that matters.

Envious of both of you. Currently only have a carport with no shed. Thanks for sharing the pics.
