My crabbing partner bought the bull lips, my job was cutting them up to bait size, and brining them.
That will never happen again.
Near impossible to cut up when thawed. Need to use table saw on frozen solid lips. Repeat. Do not try cutting them up at room temp.
If you get this far without tearing hair out, get a bucket half filled with water and mix salt in until it can float a potato. Remove potato and dump in those foul smelling nasty cut up lips and let set overnight in brine.
Remove brined bait to another bucket and hand salt each layer and put lid on bucket and hide somewhere in unattached storage room.
If you try freezing baited line, it will take all night to thaw. Make sure neighborhood dogs dont get ahold of line and drag it all over the streets.
My dumb crabbing partner ruined my good trotline that way.
Remember, dont thaw lips before cutting.
So what you're saying is thaw, cut, and put next to garage in open container?
