freezing crabmeat

Just wondering what is the best way to freeze crabmeat?

I'm sure everyone has a method that works for them, this is what I do.

I have a bunch of the 1 lb containers from store bought crab meat.  I pick and pack those full, freeze in that container, the next day pop out the frozen crab meat, put it in a vacuum bag, and use my vacuum machine to vacuum seal it.  With the type of vacuum machine I have, I can't use it with unfrozen meat or it will suck all the moisture into the machine.

No matter what you do, IMHO it really needs to be vacuum packed to have any chance of survival in the freezer.

Put fresh meat in vac-seal bag

fold up a paper towel into a strip.  place on top of meat, just before the line that gets sealed. This will keep the juice from getting sucked out.

Freeze

Take out of freezer in February and eat.

Freeze crabmeat in a container of your preference,  when frozen pop meat out of container & Vac-Seal,,will keep 6 months this way,   

Orr Place crabmeat in a vac seal bag, whatever size & shape you prefer,  freeze with bag unsealed,  when frozen, bring out of freezer & seal bag,
