I am renting a property in North VA.  Using 4-5 collapsible crab traps off the pier on the property, no license required.

Thinking about bringing my boat down, setting the 4-5 collapsible traps from my boat, no license required.

Anyone know anything about fishing? If we just fish off the pier?  Mostly just for my in-laws since we are celebrating an 80th bday.

You can use any number of collapsible traps you want 24/7/365.  You do not need a license to fish from a private pier.
