New commercial crabber here. Now looking for best bang for my buck time and money. Should I do a 2400 foot line or a 1200 and 600 foot separate line? I crab the patuxent river in Southern md. Just trying to make the most outta my time and money figured the pros on here would know best? Also when it goes colder I assume the deeper 6ou out line in the better?

Didn't some of the guys already give you solid advice on this very topic here:
https://www.bluecrab.info/forum/index.php?topic=102904

NOT busting your chops it just seems you're asking for info you already got and perhaps forgot?

I actually now believe this guy is just a spammer, and people keep falling for it. He has zero interest in crabbing. Nobody who expects to crab professionally is this CLUELESS.

But he will tell you that he has plenty of experience crabbing 1200' on the weekends.

He said he has used a trotline thousands of times.

What more can I, or anyone for that matter,  say?

If you have 2400' of line, I think you should divide it into 6 - 400' lines. That way, you can spread them over a wide area and figure out what works the best for the area where you are crabbing. Keep meticulous records, and move to different areas, recording the results as you move. Then next time you go, you will know exactly what to do! It's simple.

I guess I'm clueless too. I just can't imagine anyone's life would be pathetic and completely devoid enough of value or useful purpose enough to waste time posting on a forum dedicated to a topic they don't actually care about. What's in it for him? What joy could that possibly bring a person? Is that really a thing online? That's really sad.

It doesn't even hurt the forum really. They're kinda dumb and maybe repeat questions but they're on topic so some newbies probably find them useful  Undecided

Oh, you'd be surprised.  Most recent of memory, CrabbyMike (I think that was his name).  Since Facebook though, a lot of forums and trolling on them has died off.

Wasn't calling anybody out and I hope it didn't come off that way. I'm not even saying any of y'all are wrong, I don't know. I just truly can't see why a person would get kicks from crud-posting on a crabbing forum if they don't want to crab... but it's a strange world  Huh

All good Ryan.  It's a tough crowd on here.  They forget there was a time they asked the very same questions.
