Ok, let me clarify... the black net is just a practice net (and yes, its pretty deep). The "production" nets will be made from galvanized crabpot wire, with galv reinforcing wire hoops. They will be attached to 15" diameter heavy aluminum rings (as seen in the photos of the black net).
Here are some pictures of another net I made and put on an old stainless steel and aluminum ring/handle that mdjohn gave me. The "production" nets will be similar to that net you see there, and will be 15" diameter and about 12-13" deep.

I am going to mount it next to the dusty wood basket that holds the line that has never seen the water! I am going to switch to plastic this year, because the wood basket has holes in it from me staring at it waiting for someone to fill it for me.
only holes in it? I thought it would have burned up by now. Spontaneous combustion
with you staring at it so hard. Get your butt out there once in a while and put some wet crabs in there and it wouldn't get so dry and brittle.

SW are you going to make any "all stainless steel" or just the galvanized ones? I'll get back to you on that another time, right now, I have to go to the hospital and make fun of all the patients. Must be all the dust that has gathered in my brain from not using it....

No on the stainless steel. The galv wire lasts a long time, and when it finally does wear out, its easy to replace.
