My wife and I buy our rec license every year not because we need them because we crab off piers and its a plus if we catch about a bushel. We just enjoy being around the water and crabbing. As Joe can tell you we went on Chucks charter last year and had a blast ,catching crabs was just a plus.

I'm talking about the average weekend warrior who says, hey, I'd like some crabs, and I think its cheaper to go catch, but first I have to spend about $6000 to get a boat and all the gear I need...and buy a F350 that gets 10 mpg to pull it... you're not saving a dime!
JMO Greg, of course
You left out the part of spending time with friends and family. Teaching the young ones about the water and all that goes with it.

Well said. We've all made good friends through crabbing, and love showing the next generation the way.

Stock at least according to the DNR reports has actually gone up since 2001, maybe we need to bring more of them.
