April 1st rolls in and everone vanishes from the forum!

I understand that most of you commercial guys are off fishing your pots now that the season is open... but at least stop in every day or two and let us know how you're doing!  Grin

I'm not a commercial guy but I'm still here.  And I've been wondering the exact same thing.  All at once the conversation dries up except for a couple of questions that I can't answer.

I will say that I've had a hard time getting (buying) crabs for the last 2 or 3 weeks here in Maryland.  I guess the intensive rain up and down the East coast has hampered the crabbers.  Hopefully that'll change soon.

C'mon guys..........a little chatter!!!

i'm still here.....been pretty busy, though. havent seen any crabs yet, but the eels are startin to pick up. i think i'm only gonna deal with the bait eels this year. [dang] horseshoe crabs too expensive to be fishin for the big ones.

i've been checkin in almost daily....havent had much to say....anything important anyway

Been busy working on my little old S10 truck, daylight savings is here at last! More time for outside work. Bought a new S10 yesterday and took a road trip today to Cobb Island and ate at Capt. Billys Crabhouse at  Popes Creek.Md. .Crab cakes not enough time for crabs today. They were 30 a dozen and I saw a sign last Sat for 45 a dozen for males at Chesapeake Beach. So as you can see we are waiting to get em! I crab from Pt Lookout up the bay and last year I got out in late May so it will be a while yet for me.

Hey Darrell, you mentioned that you crab the Pt. Lookout area.  Have you ever tried Cornfield Harbor, west of Pt. Lookout?  If so how did you do there?  My son and I regularly fish that area for flounder, but have never tried crabbing there.  Might have to take along a couple 500' trotlines this year.

Darrell,

I had a S-10 Blazer for 15 years that I liked a lot.  Had the 2.8 V6 that had no power.  I often thought about putting a V8 in it but limited money and a complete lack of mechanic skills stopped me. Undecided

Here's a little forum to check out involving the mighty S10.  ( I carried a lot of steamed crabs in that little truck.)

Been spending a lot of time at work catchin' the bag guys.  Come summer when they really start to run, crime will be out of control. Hide you wife and kids, Cause I"LL BE OFF CRABIN'.  See ya boys in June on the Tred Avon then workin' my way north, Miles, Wye and finishin' September on the Chester.  It's been a long winter.  Not a bad duck season though.

Crabbytrooper,

Take that vacation man.  All you guys deserve it.  The rest of us will just have to protect our families while you're on R&R.

Good luck with that crabbin' too!

I tried to buy some today.......no luck.  Angry

Hey Crabpop, Yes I have crabbed with a 600ft trotline at Pt. Lookouts harbor and with traps, never have done great there ..small crabs but if you are camping there you can get enough for a small family crab feast if you start early. Kodi, I checked out the S10 site and it is very interesting Thanks!

Darrell, glad you liked that site.  I have more at home but I never organize so I gotta find them.

ran_c,  man I'm glad to hear that!  Until the Maryland blues start up I buy mine from a place that deals in the Louisiana market.  Been slim pickin's lately.
