Crab racing and safe keeping

Hey folks! Looks like you guys are in the know with the blue crab particulars.
Well, here it goes.
I have somehow landed the job of being a Crab Rancher for a crab rodeo and race. Part of an event in Bolivar Texas called the Stingaree Music Festival..... Folks will enter as individuals and as teams to catch one crab that will participate in a race to be held the last day of the event.
My reputation is on the line......I can catch them and I can eat them but I have some questions and I hope you folks can help.
I'll be storing and collecting crabs from contestants
1. I plan on having to keep crabs in a dock basket that has some good tidal flow to it. I want them to be lively for the race. I will hold them here for up to 3 days. Is this the best Idea?
2. Transporting crabs to and from the holding basket. Ice chest with areator a good idea?
3. Any tips on racing them? I'm building a four lane board out of a 4x8 sheet plywood and have a pretty decent design etc. etc. Angle of board is a concern as well as ways to get the crabs moving down the lane...water guns? yelling?
I'm sure I will have more questions........
This is a first time event...mostly music related (not to be confused with the crab festival in May) attendees coming from all over the country and foreign places as well....a lot of these folks want to crab and see the peninsula....also for the music....
Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks!
Donnie
