Mattamuskeet slow

Hey, I was at the lake a week ago Monday. I took a right at Lake Landing and went deep into the bush a couple of mile back on the dirt road and crabbed the canal at the lock and at the mouth of the canal where it opens up to the Lake. I was pretty exicted, I could see movement all over on the surface of the water. Turtles and catfish maybe. Crabbing started out good and then slowed to a crawl for the rest of the time out on the lake. Ended up w/ about 3 doz average size crabs (6"-7"). I tried along the entire canal where we were. Not much happening. I would have investigated the lake a little more but had some young kids in tow and they were content with where we were. Any Ideas as to why there wasn't much action. I did talk to a guy with PA tags crabbing at Lake Landing, had to have been a member of this forum, You don't just stumble onto this place. We all had a great time and it is a beautiful place.

Swampphox, how long were you there was it peak afternoon. MC was there Saturday and they were all over the place again with a good number of eights. He was at the lodge canal, Maybe a molt was going on. He seen plenty of one arm bandits and no claws which indicates it is stuffed. Maybe there was a lot of rain the day before or something.
Well I like MC's report better and it was from this weekend. Sorry for the disappointment, but I hope it's wrong place at wrong time.
There will be plenty of action there the following weekend though, RLC, KC, Steve, Crabguy, Pete, and myself with others joining us,it's going to be a blast.

Yeah, I talked to one guy when I was crabbing there and he said the day before I was there, they caught maybe a dozen crabs...TOTAL...for the day. Said it was really windy, but he didn't know if that had anything to do with it.
