Just wondering , never hear anything about Rock Hall, Md. It used to be a hot spot when I was a kid!  I remember renting an old wooden boat with oars... no motor.  But I dont recall the name of the rental place? It was Near the entrance to a wildlife refuge I think!  Anybody know if its still there and how the crabbing is? Thanks Steve

I crabbed there as a kid as well.  The place is still there and the crabbing usually gets good later in July.  I crabbed in that area last year (on my own boat) and did quite well.  Here is the contact info:

You HAVE TO bring your own motor none available up to 10hp allowed $20 to rent still same boats but in good condition However Bob don't open till 7am so all the good spots are taken up on weekends by then. If you have your own boat launch 1mi past him at Eastern Neck you can buy $10 3 day out of state permit at TOYS OUTDOOR Store in Rock Hall they open at 5am I crab that area every weekend starting JULY PM if you need more info FRED

Did Bob close so he can finally do some dredging

Not to far from Rock Hall is Ralph's Wharf in Chestertown. They rent boats threre but they are more expensive. I haven't been down there in a while but last time I was there it cost $85.00 for a 14 footer with a motor for the day. And their idea of all day is only from 8 till 3

I haven't been down in a couple of years but last time I was there we came in at low tide. All the rental boats were sitting in the mud and the person working there had to throw the anchor line forward into the mud and pull on the line to move the boat because it was so shallow. It wasn't like that when I was a kid

yes, you're right.  that side is a big flat, but if your standing on his dock looking out to the water, the left side of it is dredged pretty good.
