Hey surfpico,
Did your crab pot include an excluder for keeping out terrapin turtles, a biodegradable escape hatch, and culling rings to allow small crabs to escape? Thanks, just curious. Also was it expensive? There's info on this site on how to make your own NJ legal pots if you are handy with tools. Thanks!

I actually just built my own crabpot based on the instructions on this site. (In my opinion) I think it looks great
I cant wait to go use it! And it has all the above attached (i.e. cull rings, etc.) I would recommend trying to make your own, I actually thought it was a lot of fun.
Oh and you can't beat the $2 they charge for a license; better safe than sorry!

Kristina, where did you get the materials to make the crab pot? I'm in the same Philly area as you, thanks.

Pinchy,
I got my stuff at Boater's World. And my dad brought me home the hog rings from work (I don't know why he has some of these things
) Check home depot, sometimes the one in bensalem has odd fishing/crabbing materials and they might have the wire; I didn't use the eelpot wire for the bait part, I couldn't find it anywhere so I just used the crab wire. I hope to test it out in about 2 weeks in Wildwood so we'll see how well it works! Good luck

Thanks Kristina,
Now I know where Boater's World is at the Franklin Mills Mall. How about posting a photo of your handiwork? I'd like to see what the biodegradable panel looks like and how you built it. Good luck with it in Wildwood, sounds like fun!

As an aside, Pinchy.
That's a fantastic image of the crab nebula in your avatar. Looks a lot different in real life, though. Where's the picture from?
Thanks!
