Wow  Crabs are very large and sweet in Coastal Georgia waters  Yes, I do wish y'all were here to enjoy these Southern Delicacies I will setting my traps out over the long weekend. Usually I expect to harvest around 200-300 crabs  |

Madcrabber11 have your brother go to this site www.srd.dnr.state.ga.us.com Tybee Island and St. Simons Island both have public piers for folks to crab from. There are many resturants that serve the blue crab. The best resturants are usually next to a marina located in a rural area. |

Crabtime our crabs are as sweet as our peaches.  Whether you are in Maryland or Georgia Blue Crabs RULE. I know that Maryland's Chesapeake Bay is struggling to survive. We are now beginning to face many of the problems that y'all deal with everyday. Georgia's coast has been unknown for decades. Where I live if I saw 5 or 6 cars we were having a traffic jam. Now our area has been discovered by Metro-Atlanta and new subdivisions and condos are being built everywhere. I live in a rural small shrimping village. Now we have a golf course and tons of cars and people. What these people want to enjoy they will destroy.  |

Thank you,I went to that site it didn't have anything about crabs though it was something about G.A. university.He prefers to buy his crabs.I feel your pain about the crowds it's inevitable though as the population grows they have to go somewhere.My area is the same way I would venture to say everyones area is growing especially as the baby boomers retire they tend to go where there is water and warm temps and there are millions of boomers retiring.Good luck |

Madcrabber11, Martin Georgia is in Northeast Georgia at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Your brother is a long way from the coast. Yes, somehow the coast resources division of DNR's web site has been directed to Georgia State University. All of the fish markets here on the coast sell live blue crabs year round. I crab year round here in McIntosh County Georgia. My neighbor sends several truck loads of live blue crabs to Maryland on a weekly basis. I see Marlyanders are enjoying Georgia Blue Crabs and paying Maryland prices. Tell you brother to come to Tybee Island or St. Simons Island for some real live crabbing. |
