There are crabs there but they are small. There are places to launch. There is a guy in Hateras that will take you crabbing. He owns a crab place at the inlet in Hateras.I dont remember the name.I think if you want to crab by boat it would be worth it to go with him because the sound is very shallow he can give you invaluable information  Wink

It is real hot stuff. I found out about it many years at Walt's The King of Crabs on 2nd st in Philly. the place isn't there any more but I got to be friends with one of the chefs there and he told me about it. it has a kick , but they had some great crabs Wink

I think that is it.It's next to a couple of head boats and a store where you can charter a couple of small boats for sound fishing which I have done twice and highly recommend  Cool

So???  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Maybe they were right?  Wink Lips Sealed Undecided We do have seasons for oysters etc, and we can't just go and catch whatever most of the time......hence the decline in the fishery as a whole for some species IE; crabs, flounder, red drum, speckle trout and or sea trout(gray). Then again maybe you are right and they figure you or anyone just as a tourist as this is the main staple for most of those guys livelihoods. Sorta like a bee, they sense the fear in ya and sting ya Cry, moral....be calm and patient and be greatly rewarded.(not being stung) Grin

well, when i can buy oysters( chincoteague, blue points, malpeques etc. etc. etc.) 15 minutes from my house at a local seafood retailer and then go 9 hours to the place where seafood comes from, hence the " sea"......they tell me there not in season....... huh makes ya wonder if those guys really know what they think they know

Oyster closed here a while back, any oysters would have to come from else where that has a legal season. You could though buy oyster say from a oyster shucking plant.
