The southeast board is rather slow with not too many members in this area.
There is a Florida Crab web site (free) that also is not too busy. Then there is the Internet Shrimpers and Anglers web site (pay) that is a rather active group.
However...I am in New Smyrna right now on vacation and will post some crabbing reports soon!
I only hear of crabbing from Daytona down to Titusville.
How is crabbing down by Stuart?

Hey thanks for getting back on this forum Shellman, I understand that there is some great crabbin goin on down here in Stuart. I have seen more up your way by far, but there is still a bunch of commercial guys out here everyday. I guess they have to be getting some good piles. I see the depths through Stuart, and surrounding areas, and it ranges from 2'-3' down to 8'-10. I think they are pickin somewhere in between, and putting out their pots. Let me know how you do up there! I may have to load the Boat up and head that way at some point. I hope you get enough to make your vacation a crabby time

In the NSB area there is some commercial crabbing but not too much.
I haven't seen any recreational crabbers out yet this trip and it's been raining and windy here last few days.
There is also the
Red Tide
threat being taken very seriously

I'm making a trip oven to the middle east coast Monday to try to locate a few. I'll post my results, I was just checking the board to see if anyone had posted about having luck over there. I've been over to some old spots and even have tried some new ones without much luck this year. My crabbing grounds are locations as far south as Ulmay/ Sykes Creek in Bervard County to as far north as Bulow Creek in Flagler County. Any tips would be appreciated. I'll let you know if I get into them.

From Labor day to Christmas southeastern crabbers are catching shrimp and fish. Shrimp are everywhere on Georgia's coast and ICW. Trout, Flounder, and Redfish are the hot items of the day. I have my crab traps on the hill and I am shrimping and fishing.

Thanks for all the posts, I am going to try and do a trot line for the first time!
I saw a figure of the layout of the Trot line on-line. a couple questions are in my mind. Do you tie the bait right to the line itself, or do you tie it 3-4" dangling off of it? Also any suggestions on how long it should be, and how long you leave it before returning for the pick up? I figure this will be the best way to maximize my efforts. You know I haven't eaten enough crabs if I'm going to try this!
Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

Do a search here for trot line or snood line. A lot of info has been posted here before on your subject.

Thanks Shellfish, I'm going to look it up! That may have to wait a week or so until I get everything organized. I think I'm gonna try from land with some handlines and by boat with a few traps this Sat. pm and Sunday, I'll let you know how it goes.
