Crabbed the last 5 days and been killing the crabs everyday. The last 5 days we have caught 9 bushels of crabs. Been taking friends and family out and its been a blast, hope it holds for another week or so then off to catch the stripers. Even caught a flounder in a trap the other day talk about the salt content being high. Flounder, blues, spot in the Elk and god knows what else.

Going to Bo this friday.  Seems like most recent posts are using traps - will I be wasting my time with my 900 foot trot line (assuming its not too windy)?

I only have maybe 8 box traps, so I could use those.  Could probably pick up another dozen traps if traps would be more effective that the line.  I did hear someone say at the Bo Vista boat ramp that traps usually catch better than trot in the bo.  Any advise would be appreciated, thanks. Cool

You better check that wind report for Friday, Gusts to 30kts from the west...straight up the Boh...... Shocked

I've read and seen 1st hand(last weekend) that the trot line works just fine.....if you use it correctly, same boat was next to us for 2 weeks, ran there line next to our traps and we watched them, they did great.....
I personally use 20 topless, we have a good system down, my son(11) & I

I would take the traps to and set them at the end of the line....or experiment in different depths with a few....
But it is gonna be windy
SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON

 TODAY
NW WINDS 15 TO 20 KT WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 KT. WAVES 2 TO

 FRI

Yeah weather doesn't look so hot but i am still thinking on going out later today. Little wind doesn't bother me, use to fishing offshore. The elk shouldn't be that bad were I'll be crabbing at. I hate wind though looks like it will be the last week for me with crabbing. Watch out stripers laugh

Called my buddy and he still wants to give it a shot I'll post a report tomorrow.

Striper in, I let you know when I start to catch the stripers with this cooler weater it should be in a week or so. I'll keep you updated, need to go south and get some fresh bunker instead of the bunker that has been frozen for months at the bait stores around here.
