Bagged my first buck of the season Thursday evening. Had a spike and a 6-point come in to the bait...walking in on my trail??? The 6 ended up walking right underneath my tree. Single lunged him....so I had some tracking to do. Was a great blood trail and a good shot. Only took me about 45 minutes to an hour to find him. Was a very heavy deer for our area. Probably the second biggest bodied deer I've ever killed. Shame the rack isn't too impressive but hey, I've never been a buck hunter so, it's a bonus for me....especially with the bow.

Good job on the hunt and the recovery.  Any buck with the bow is a trophy to me Grin cause you gotta get close.
Congratulations!

good work! you may not have a rack on the wall, but it sounds like you've got food on the table  laugh

God job,  I got a scrubby 6 pt opening day myself.  They all eat the same.  130 yd shot with a slug shotgun.  he ran 100 yds and then I found him in a hedgerow down.  hit him in the spine.  Anyway, least I got some meat in the freezer.  How's is everyone else doing with this crazy weather and leaves still on the trees?

Not seeing the numbers I'm used to.I shot a huge doe,no buck yet.I think that wasting disease took a bunch of deer out in my neck of the woods.I found 4 dead my neighbors found 15.I am not going to shoot anymore unless I see a big buck or a management buck.I did see a huge buck but his 8 points were narrow and tall so I will probably take him out of the gene pool.
