Tried this recipe, tasted like water with some foul catsup in it. nasty. Someone needs to recheck that recipe.

The measurements don't appear the be correct just by looking at them. Diluting what was listed to "1 quart" would give you a thin watery broth resembling what's left in the pot after steaming crabs. You've got 1.5 oz of ketchup in 32 oz volume. Doesn't add up anyway: 1/4 cup vinegar = 2 fl. oz., 1/2 cup beer = 4 fl. oz., yet recipe claims this makes a quart = 32 fl. oz. Angry

Even if left undiluted to make "1 quart", you're left with about one cup of beer and vinegar mixed with a few spices and a spoonful of ketchup. This is not a "sauce" in any sense of the word. Lips Sealed

Pinchy - when ya rite, your rite

I come up with about 10 ounces of ingredients to make 32 ounces ( quart )

or put another way - you have 10 ounces of ingredients and 22 ounces of water to make a quart.

what's it taste like with no water Huh?

What difference does it make if I live in Philly or anywhere else? You live in NJ and you claim you've "had it." Even if I lived in Timbuktu it's easy to see that the recipe as written above cannot be correct. If you think 2 oz. + 4 oz. = 32 oz. I'm not gonna argue. laugh

With all due respect, wt101, adding a quart of water to that concoction doesn't improve its appeal. laugh
