Closed circuit TV camera to monitor busters

After having run a small shedding operation for a while last year, I noticed that I would often be tired and lazy and I wouldn't want to go outside to check on the busters.....   I would like to rig up something to remotely monitor the crabs so that I would know when one had popped. This will entail moving the shedding tank up next to the window and mounting a mirror at 45 degrees over the tank. This way the camera can be inside the house and I can monitor the crabs while I am downtown at work....   I already know how to do this sort of thing with the Internet webcam stuff. I wonder if anyone else has tried some method of remotely monitoring?

Bill, I had a idea to where once you get good enough to judge how far along a peeler is, you could then put him in a separate small tank where you would have a fountain pump attached to a timer, and come on say 4-6 hours later. There he will sit till your ready

My thinking was to let you watch them in a way where they didn't know that they are being watched....   Last year I used to check them before I went to bed everynight. They are very clever. After a while they knew my pattern and they would wait until all the lights went off in the house and then they would shed. When I got up in the morning they had already started hardening....    I will outsmart them this year. I will put their little images up on the web 24 hours a day.....

Wireless webcams with motion detector to take pictures and/or video feeds.  Depending on your requirements you could use your current pc.

My thinking is that I really don't have to be able to see the crab that well. If the crab is in an isolation pen with a white bottom, before the molt you will see just one crab and after the molt you will see two crabs..... You really don't even need the TV camera. You can just use a mirror to where you can see the tank bottom from inside the comfort of the house.....  I hate it when I have to go outside in the middle of the night to check the busters......  It's not so bad if one has molted and a good softshell results.

interesting idea

when I was shedding crabs, I got

just right, hardening up or half eaten

saves you a walk outside but i didn't mind the walk

my problem is they shed at 5 am and i was asleep, so no camera would help
