My husband and I have never gone crabbing, but looking for an easy place where catching the crabs is probable. We've been to WSP before just to visit and take the dog somewhere new. I know Colonial Beach is near there too. So my Q is where would be a good place for a couple of first timers to go? We're in Richmond and know we're going to have to travel 2-2.5 hours to get somewhere decent.

Yeah after I hit post I realized which forum I was in...we'll call it a rookie mistake. (And we won't tell anyone that I moderate a set a forums on another board). Thanks for moving it Smiley

I have a friend that lives in Tappahannock/Warsaw area and he has had a few successful trips at Westmoreland.  I believe that he looked for little creeks and coves off of the Potomac just out to the left or right of the park. I'll try and find out more details.

Here is a link to public boat ramps in Westmoreland. Currioman Landing is nice, its isolated and not used much and free. Be carefull leaving the bay area though. It can be pretty shallow at low tide.        http://www.westmoreland-county.org/vc_ramp.htm
