I am in South Mississippi,andIam disabled from stroke. But I have aways wanted to softshell crabs at home.Ohers here do it but they dont give no info I just want to supplement my income lol since I have none at this time and. If you Guys will direct me where to go on the net to read about how to build the tanks and what is the filter system I see at the local bait shops? They keep live crabs and shrimp if any of you know where I can find info please help.

Drift-wood, you're at a good site for starters. There are 4 pages of old threads dealing with soft crabs right here in Soft Crabbing Know-how.  Lots of good info, lots of bragging and complaining, too.  Wink You'lll have to sort it all out.

It would be worth your time to drive over to my house and see our operation up and going,should be able to drive it in under 5 hrs and you are welcome to come and ask all the questions you want to.

Boy I did'nt really think I would get reply's. Thank's alot and I will read alot. And thanks for the invite to see a system running. You Guy's are so helpfull. Not all Forum's are as friendly as this one. I can't find noone around here or on the net that will even talk about it with me. I found the best site for Crabs on the net and I will tell all my buddy's about you Guy's for sure. Thank's again very much. Terry

Welcome to the BCA..  I been shedding crabs for years but don't know half what RD has forgot..  Take him up on his offer if you can.  You could never read, in a life time, what he can show you!  thumbsup

I live 3 miles from the gulf. I have about 20 Crab pots that the Crabbers use commercially that I have gotten over the years and I will get me a license and catch my own hopefully.
