Hello All,

I will be smack dab in nags head.

I have been searching the posts and trying to find the best places to crab and fish etc. I understand it changes week to week (thanks gene). An will still be searching for info.

I think I will be able to keep the boat where we are residing but was wondering if there is anywhere I could keep my boat and trailer for the week if I needed to. Or any boat launches.

I also don't understand what kind of license I need.  if I am in the soundside is that an ocean fishing license I need?  And if I am crabbing I will need an inland license right?

How do you crabbers mark your floats for your traps?

I would like to do some floundering..... well any fishing really and my buddy up here in Virginia said that Gulp Shrimp are good to use while down there.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also any of you BCA'ers wanna hook up let me know maybe we can catch up or something.

thanks a lot

Rec pot color is Pink, so you'll need pink bouys on your traps.. Yellow is for commercial gill nets.So be on the look out for them.  LOL  Gene

The commercial guys have to Burn their name or boat number into their bouys, you can get pink paint at Ace Hardware..Some of the bouy companies sell pink bouys..You might want to check NCDMF's website, for all your requirements to be safe.

Thanks Gene. I'm real excited coming down there. This is my first year with a boat crabbing and fishing. It sure has opened up a lot for me.  I hear fishing is awesome down there I hope to catch a flounder or tow or maybe a seatrout.  Really I don't care though :-)
I see that you sell seafood. I will look you all up and maybe make some purchases on my way out :-)

take care

Will I  be too far up north you think??
Is the sound considered south of the 264 bridge?

I've seen the Specks all the way up to the Duck Water Tower in Currituck Sound. They should be good from The Mann's Harbor Bridge  to the North...And Around Roanoke Island to the south to Pirates Cove too.

Speckles are just North of the old Manns harbor bridge to the Mid Currituck Sound..Lots of small flounder everywhere, so there should be some bigger ones around too.. fishing should be fun... Grin

Blue, be sure to post your results when you get back.  I'll be super interested to know how you did since I'll be down there the first week of sept.
