When congress( read your elected official) reauthorized the Magnuson act they(your congressman, your local state fisheries officials and federal officials from USFWS & NMFS) totally understood they were sticking it to you.Yet now they act like they had no clue and what really sticks in my claw is people agree with them.
The state: we had no clue!!!!
The people: we believe you!!!!!
Get real people!!!!!!!!!!!!
The saltwater fishing permit is nothing but a tax to help pay for the salaries of the state and federal workers .
MA DMF
NMFS
USFWS
YOUR CONGRESSMAN/WOMAN
have JUST STUCK IT TO YOU AGAIN!!!!!!
WHEN DO WE WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rob,
I have posted quite a few times on this subject. I have written and called all the big names in the State and the end result is nothing. Paul Diaoti, the Director of MA Marine Fisheries and I have some pretty harsh words over this in e-mails and no one should expect any support from him or his department....he is nothing but a yes man to the powers in Washington and the last thing in his mind (if he even has one) is to protect the residents of Massachusetts. The people at MA Department of Marine Fisheries only want to protect one thing, that is their jobs.
Do a little search and read some of the past posts.........This is really a shamefull way we have been treated by our government agencies. The worst shame is the fact that they published this once in their quarterly newsletter and asked for citizen comments, knowing that it was a done deal.
As usual, the citizens of Massachusetts get screwed and the politicians and their appointed minions get the control of the shaft. Not one of the people in MMF are worth a bucket of spit in my opinion

Folks laugh and call you a nut when you talk about conspiracy's in government. But this is an conspiracy. State and federal officals along with your elected reps. got together and relized there was billions and I do mean billions in taxes and permit fees on a saltwater fishing permit.
My fellow americans sit by and do nothing while this is shoved up there rear end.
WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!
A federal saltwater fishing permit is another endless tax!!!!!!!!!!!!
The goverment is sneaky and lowlife." we will give you a break on the first couple of years of the permit. We won't charge you any money".
My countrymen think there getting a great deal!!!!!!!!
FOR GODS SAKE, WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also want to mention to you out there who already have to obtain a saltwater fishing license from your state.........do you really think that when you start paying the Fed's their usurious $32.00 a year permit fee that your state will do away with theirs. I would bet that some of you when reading the original posts on this subject said to yourself............screw them, it is about time you paid something. Well, you who had that fleeting though will pay twice, the state fee and the federal fee.
Do you really think that for example that the state of Florida will no longer require a saltwater fishing license.....dream on. When was the last time a state stopped collecting a fee.........NEVER in my 62 years have I seen it happen.
Nero fiddled as Rome burned...............we have done the same thing.
Our Federal and State officials deliberately hid this from us and the bastards in Congress extended the Magnuson-Stevens Fisheries Act which included the salt water fishing license ammendment. They only saw the dollar signs.............how many saltwater people fish in this country.......30 to 50 million I once heard...........at $32.00 a head it means between 96 and 160 Million dollars collected nationwide..............Mmmmmmmmmmmm, seems enough so we can provide more of those entitlement programs for the lame and lazy and oh yeah, those poor downtrodden undocumented people.
Big government only means a big screwing for the people

We are paying the beauracrats to think up new ways of getting more of our money. That is all they are interested in....how to obtain more and more money!
I would figure that state and federal taxes would be sufficient. Nope, not even close!
