It is 50 per day for neckers and scappers.....this possible new change would impact recreational and commercial lobstermen who presently have no limit.  This would all but eliminate a commercial blue crab fishery in the state

Well look what the cat dragged in...

Be very careful Masspi - you know what tender, bloated egos there are to pussyfoot around here.

Was there ever a commercial blue crab fishery to lose?

Thanks for the reference, I for one appreciate your posts even if you do say bad mean things to people who are probably better for having heard them.

I suspect that Paul Diodati is a moderator on this forum...

ps - rec lobstermen have to stick to the 50/day limit. We just get to set pots.

Yeah, thats the first thing I thought..  50 crabs for a commercial guy would really be fishing for his own cookpot...

Jack,

My read of the regs doesn't even admit that there is a commercial fishery for blue crab in Massachusetts.

Mass. Marine Fisheries defines a local 'crustacean' as a lobster or a northern shrimp. Calinectes Sapidus is an afterthought at best.

That doesn't mean commercial fishermen aren't out there after them.

I might change my handle to "Cat Dragged In".....has a good ring to it.  The director of mass. marine fisheries.............note the contemptuous use of no capital letters...........and I have had many scathing e-mails and letters since he was appointed by our worthless governor.  re: the salt water license program mandated by the feds and the states total inaction on protecting the taxpayers of Massachusetts.

I plan on being at the hearing on the 16th. at 6:00 PM in Plymouth.......could be fun if Paul is there..........I can feel my blood boiling already.

This whole matter of discussion is a petition submitted by some unknown person/group......can't find out who it is.  Got some spare time, stop by the Plymouth hearing, could be very interesting.

Chatham, on Cape Cod is where the crabs draw the line, as far as I know, and until someone posts results to the contrary.

There's a guy on here crabbing in Pleasant Bay and he's the northernmost crabber on record.

A few miles southwest is Masspi, the crabbiest crabber in Buzzards Bay.

HOPEFULLY HE AND i HAVE LERNED AR LESSIN ABOUT "TAUNTING THE MODS"...

Crime doesn't pay, Masspi.
