WENT TO THOMPSON CREEK TODAY 1200 LINE AND 6 TRAPS.DIDNT GET THERE UNTIL 10:30 AND PULLED OUT AROUND 4:30 WITH ONLY THREE DOZEN.THE CRABS WERE FALLING OFF THE LINE BEFORE I COULD DIP THEM. I QUESS THE WATER WAS TOO COLD FOR A LINE. THE WATER TEMP WAS 58. ALL THE CRABS WERE CAUGHT IN TRAPS.THE ONLY CRABS THAT WERE HOLDING ON TO THE LINE WERE FEMALES AND THEY WERE SMALL. BUT HAD A GREAT TIME AND THE CRABS WERE GREAT.

We were around the corner in Cox Creek. Caught just under a bushel. Some at 8 feet, most at 10-12 feet.
Our set up is very low-tech - have no gadgets for depth (make educated guesstimate from the lines) or water temp.
Pretty day on the water! Ran into Italian Mule and chatted with him at bit - just a great day!

I was wondering about crabs holding on to line,my last trip was traps in 51 degree water and the crabs wher very lethargic. Not the snappy crabs like in August.I would see crabs swim away then back on in those warmer temps 70

He's fairly short like me - if you ask him he'll tell you he's 5'6", but I'm only 5'3", and he's just about an inch taller..... must be that male measuring thing!
Anyways - he'll always float because we both always wear life vests. He has seizures and there's just no way I'm going to let him on a boat without one! We found out he'll float for sure on our first trip out this year - our daughter was pulling the traps and missed one - he leaned back behind him to try and grab it, and SPLASH! Right out over the transom he went. We heard all kinds of discouraging words that day! Weebles may wobble and don't fall down, but they
will
fall out of the boat!
I do have a weight and a string dohickey made up, if I can rouse myself to haul it out of the tack box. I'm plenty OCD about some stuff, but frankly, I don't care if I don't know if the water is 10 feet or 12 feet. As long as the trap hits bottom, the float stays on top, and there's a reasonable number of crabs getting caught, I'm a happy lady!

OCD: the impulsive, uncontrollable urge to put everything in it's "correct" order or place.
CDO: with the letters arranged alphabetically. You know, like they're supposed to be!
