Whats up everyone. I just wanted to know what would be the best and closest place to go crabbing in New Jersey. I am in East Stroudsburg, Pa right on the New Jersey/PA boarder. (delaware water gap.rt 80) Is the season over? I am dying to go crabbing...

I can tell you the season is winding down rapidly, however the area you question I can not advise where to go - someone on here will give you help - hang in there and check back often

Well at least I can plan something for next year. Love me some crabs. Theres only 1 fish market that sells crabs every now and then in Stroudsburg.... Not a good thing... I grew up in brooklyn and I used to go crabbing behind the toys r us at ceasars bay bazaar in bensonhurst. Loaded with crabs back there. Also there is a nice little inlet in canarsie brooklyn that is like the best kept secret for blue crabs...

If you're serious about getting out this year I would go to the Delaware section of the forum and contact some crabbers that can give you some info on the Indian River. From some of the recent posts they seem to be doing very well around the power plant. Good luck, let us know how you make out.

All you city boys, E-burg, S-burg. Sorry can't help myself, I went to Pocono Mountain, '81. Gonna kind of be hard this late but I remember going straight across Jersey and going to Seaside Heights I think. As soon as you go over the bridge turn left and there used to be a pier/dock there. We'd scoop them off the pilons. Good Luck.

I guess it wasn't straight across from when I was in the Poconos, but more like when I was in the Reading area. It's Rt. 37 which you can pick up in Lakehurst. Head towards the beach and you'll cross over Barnegat bay and as you come off the bridge keep to the left. I think they had a bait shop there, possibly an office for the head boats going out. That's all I can remember for now. Good luck if you go,
