When my brother and his roommate where in state last summer we went to a Chinese buffet in Odenton MD. For there snow crab legs, but instead they had female crabs no legs or claws just body's...I was disgusted too see they that they looks just barley legal I think some might not have been legal;but thats not the point. When I cracked open one of thoughs baby's the yellow musturd was horrible it tasted like poison and I'm a huge musturd fan, so does anyone know why the mustard could of tasted like that? undercooked, bad water quality, cooked after being dead for sometime?

And they had orange sacks inside them or at least what it looked liked I had never seen them be for could someone tell me what they are? could they of been pregnant? (reason why I'm asking is I know sometimes people scrape of the sacks of pregnant bluecrabs.)

lets just say I didn't start a second one...

oh and little to no meat.

That is roe but not a sponge yet as was obvious by the lack of sponge protruding from the abdomen.

JD there are actually other blue crabs out there. The ones that come from Asia are blue swimmer crabs and they are different. They are similar but not the same. I hear they have a different taste too.

If it smelled like amonia it was proabably already dead and decomposing when it was cooked. It could also be the way it was prepared isn't what you were expecting or use to. Since we didn't experience it ourselves it's gonna be hard to give you the exact cause of the bad taste I think.

Sometimes the yellow stuff just tastes bad even if the crabs are good, since it's the crabs filtering system. Like marysue said, No one here can give you the exact reason because we weren't there.

I'm not really sure what latterly lost means but I think it's literally insane.  Sad to say I'm starting to enjoy seeing the non-sensical abuse of the english language turn into something that no one will, or ever should, understand.  Superb!  laugh

I had hard crabs at a the Jumbo buffet in Harrisburg before. They were hard shell, but seemed like they were sauteed. Had a sauce and all, kind of sweet, but made picking almost out of the question. If'n I'm eatin' crabs, it's gonna be at home so I can clean up with the garden hose and a roll of paper towels. Wink
