Agreed.    His measurement looked a bit liberal.   Wink

Just a suggestion...

Should there be some standards to set as to the presentation of the measurement so everyone is doing it in a consistent manner?    It would probably make it easier to judge.

the rite way to measure is to make like a book end kinda deal with about a 12 in bottom board so you put one point of crab touching board then you get tru measure it would look kinda like the board they measure fish with

Good idea Tat.  I second the notion of having some standards for photos.  Even with regular photos posted here there is frequently debate over size because of the camera angle, ruler placement, etc.  A crab measuring tool is great and the photos are usually pretty easy to read the crab size.

If a ruler or tape measure is used, I suggest that the ruler and one point of the crab be held against a fixed object like the edge of a kitchen counter, refrigerator, boat gunwale, etc.  That provides a fixed starting point to measure, just like when using a crab measuring tool.  Both points of the crab and the end of the ruler have to be visible in the pic.  The pic attached was taken this way but my aim was off and does not include the other point so it wouldn't qualify, but it gives you an idea of what I mean.

I would like to suggest that if you think you may have a winner then put it in the freezer then if it ends up being the biggest then send it to Tattoo for an official measurement and you can also have him mount it for you if you want.
