Boat launch in or close to Avon, NC (OBX)

Howdy y'all. I am heading to the OBX in July and have rented a soundfront house in Avon with a dock. I plan on doing some fishing and crabbing, but I can't seem to find a boat launch anywhere near the area. It appears the closest is in Frisco : (. That's a heck of a drive. Does anyone know where a relatively decent boat launch (I need only 2' of water) near or in Avon?

It would be a lot closer to go to frisco.. That ramp is at Pea Island Refuge, about 35 miles north of Avon..

you gotta be kidding me....
There are no public (or private fee based) ramps in Avon? How does everyone get their boat in the water when renting a soundfront or canalfront house? Frisco is at least 7 miles straight line.

that is the outer banks.. it is very spread out.. that is what makes it nice... but also not as many convinences close by. I was thinking Frisco was the closest..... You may want to contact your rental agency that rented you the hosue. they may have a community ramp or something in the area you are staying and may be included in your rental ... some areas of OBX do...or you can just launch off Gene's front lawn....

I do love the OBX because of the lack of crowds, but if I knew that the closest public ramp was in Frisco, I would have rented a house in Frisco. I can't believe with all the soundfront and canalfront house there is not a single ramp in Avon. Oh well. If any of you should know of one, I sure would appreciate it. Otherwise, the boat will stay on the trailer. Frisco to Avon is about 7-8 miles straight line. That doesn't take into account the sand bars that need to be avoided. Just not worth the gas to dock the boat in front of the house. Oh well. Gene, you own a "tourist" business? I'll stop by and say hi and possibly throw some business your way. lol thanks alot guys

That's right you will not have to worry about bringing the crabs onto the boat. All you have to do is sort them and move them from time to time. And it is a lovely boat ride, it would probably cost you $100 to take a sight seeing trip like this one.
