Jae, believe you have the right idea doing your crabbing in Virginia on 7/4-7/5. The crabs in the middle and northern Chesapeake Bay just haven't turned on yet. Weather too cool, water too cool, and too much rain. Your chances of getting more and larger crabs in the Virginia tidal areas are much better at this time of the year. Of course, when the temperatures and water warm up, the entire Chesapeake Bay has the finest blue crabs in the world! Forecast is for temperatures in the 90's next week up here in the Annapolis, Maryland area. Good luck and good crabbing.
