Mutzy i am italian also and had a question or two for you.

1...i heard there was a good crab house in long island city and another in brooklyn somwhere know anything about it ?

2...I know how to make the Italian recipe with saucse but wanted to ask a question......do you gauge how many crabs you will use per can of sauce ? i usually go with about a dozen per can but can get away with 8 or 9.

3...i usally let them simmer about close to two hours.......you go shorter or longer on the cook time ?

4....do you let them sit over night after you cook em...i found when i do the sauce really soaks up the flavor.

5...thanks to some guys here they told me the maryland way and it was great but it was more for snacking then a meal.

I usually let my sauce simmer for five to six hours with the crabs in there...

..God bless the Italians....
               Clemente's Maryland Crab house
                3939 Emmons ave,
                Sheepshead bay.... Brooklyn
               BTW..It's all you can eat..I think $30:00

One can is good for that amount......but that's only my opinion

I never let them simmer that long (sorry brother Ron)
I put them in a pot (clean) with a little oil and garlic until they turn pink then put in the sauce, add all your seasoning cook for about another 45 min.  ..If you cook to long they get very mushy

AND YES ..the next day is the best...You end up sucking your fingers

I hope I answered all your questions..Bmail if you have any more

Worse yet, a "packet" of sauce - Spatini.  (yes, it's still available!)
