In the picture it looks like  the tape is not at the point of the crab (on the left) which gaves you a false reading.With that tape moved to the left that much I would say that crab is maybe 8 1/4" pushing it at 8 3/8"

Russ take this one, I still have the shell will bring it on the 19th, notive there is a 1/4" missing on the front ruler, at start of ruler, 3/8's past the 8 1/2" Mark.

Well the picture is a bad shot, won't last long anyway, but here's another crab the Mumbo's abound and this is pretty clear and I still have the shell.  Still call it 8 9/16 Grin

The pictures don't work for entry.I had this problem last year.To do it right either sent the shell to the Moderator or take it  to a BCA function.Thats the only true way to do it.Because the angel of the carmera , lighting,shadows ,how you hold the tape ,ect. causes for a false readings.
