Crab'n is a way of life....

This is a Whitey. Notice the area under the spines lacks any moss and is almost completely white. Nice size crab but it will not have much meat in it.  Best to throw them back.  Yes, I know it's hard to throw a 6+ crab back but it would be best for everyone (and the crabs).  I would rather have a packed 5 inch crab than this Whitey.  Cool

This is a Dirty Rusty Packed crab.  (It's also a dead buster btw.) Notice the dirty, mossy area under the spines.  This is also how a "Pinch Test" is done.  If the crabs shell flexs under the spine area, even the tinyest bit, it will be mostly empty of meat.

The only true way to test for light crabs is to let it clamp down across your finger and measure how hard the force of the claw is by how high a pitch your voice is while cussing.  Grin

The Whitey is a pic from someones post here on the forum. No junk in my pot.  Wink The buster is from my float.  It didn't make it so it's in the bait bin.  Cool
