Early this morning a little before the Sun was about to kiss the Bay I saw 2 boats heading out on the Bush with crabbing gear in their hold. As I crossed of the GP, surprisingly, I saw only 3 boats between the channel and Oliver Point. Nothing around Maxwell, at least on the west side of it. I heard it was a packed weekend on the Gunpowder so maybe people are all crabbed out today and taking a break?

I will be away for the next few days so enjoy those rivers and good luck with the Jimmies. I'll be back with a rail report thursday.

That is all!

This afternoon one crabber seen on the Bush working traps near the powerlines. I saw over 18 on the GP and they were all over the place from Piney Point to Swaderick Creek to Maxwell Point to off the main channel to Oliver Point to the mouth of the Bird River. I also saw two boats headed back to Mariner with what appeared to be some baskets of crabs.  Grin

Badbean,

It's a shame so many people insist on dropping their gear right on top of one another in the GP on the weekends...  My bro and I noticed someone further south this weekend off of the Patapsco in Stoney Creek running 30 traps near where we were considering setting traps.  Each of their traps were over 80' to 100' apart taking up a HUGE portion of crabbing grounds.  That's [dang] near a half a mile of shoreline taken up by 30 traps...  Cry  Does anyone agree that people setting traps should set within a limited space???

Factors like wind, the size of your boat and just looking for the areas/depth where the crabs are make spacing out your traps a wise decision IMHO.  And, yup, 30 in one line can take up a lot of space.  If you want to lay and be couteous, lay towards someone's line, when you get 200' away, skip laying a few until you got well on the other side of their line and then continue to lay out traps... those people out there are insane though... two floats from two crabber within 5' of each other or even tangled, 3 crabbers with a trap all within a 40' circle... just freakin' silly... too much damned bait in the water for anyone to do really well  juggle juggle2 argue dunce mickey mad antlers pumpkin santa2 biker cowboy operator Mr-T joker egypt hippy daisy hat helmet :afro: bobby2 bucktooth glasses2 builder2 dunce2 elf ears bow devilish cyclist beatnik2 beatnik smart sultan sombrero stooge_larry toff vampire Angel toilet

Hey Bowmovements...

Some crazy beeeotch in a grey GEO looking grocery getter vehicle cut me off and took the Rosedale exit very early on Saturday when I was intent on crabbing in Stoney Creek.  You wouldn't know her by chance would you ?  laugh laugh

Also, someone had Bear Creek LOADED with traps on the North side as I drove across the bridge traveling on 695.  Anyone got any info or a report on the boys?
