Feild corn like i feed my cattle must be cracked even for cows or hogs to digest it! if not it just passes through the digestive system whole, If you look at a cow patty it looks just like it did when they ate it. The corn i think they are using for carp bait would be Canned precooked sweet corn, & yes it works for bait on lots of fish  Wink Smiley

Living on the Pamlico Sound  i started using cracked corn, throwing it around my pier. After several days, i observed small baitfish all over the area where the corn was thrown. Also observed were blue crabs around a pile of corn that I throw in a single pile. I place about 1 pound of cracked corn in a mesh bag and placed it inside of the bait well of my crab pot. The next day rewarded me with 17 crabs one flounder and one spot in a single pot. So I'm convinced that fish and crabs will eat the cracked corn. try it out. You may be surprised. I'm using it now to keep bait fish and other marine life around the pier. Everone knows that once you have bait fish, then other creatures start moving in. crabs and larger fish. Good luck.

Not sure how crabs would react but a guy in Florida said that he would throw "hog feed" into the canal where he lived to lure bass.  Since crabs will eat pretty much anything I'd give it a try!
