Welcome to the forum, and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY.   I'm not real familiar with that location, but I looked at it on Google Maps.  Looks to be very near a portion of the Potomac R. that should hold some crabs.  I would think that in the shallower creeks, you may be able to catch a few now, on sunny days when the water warms up.  I look for a minimum of 58 degree water temp to use my pots.
Fishbonz is down that way somewhere, and I'm sure he'll chime in as soon as he sees this thread.  Good luck crabbing and God Bless.

fishbonzs i here your the guy i need to talk too! I'm origanilly from Boston and grew up in hull mass on the beach, so growing up i had 3 of my own lobster traps and i would  mess around with a pyramid trap when i was striper fishing. so i have a very basic idea on what I'm doing out here. what I'm looking for is... are their crabs in my area? what signs should i be looking for that they are here. and what gear i should be buying. i recently bought a kayak so i can drop traps out off the shore if needed. am i dropping the traps in the mud, sand, out in the open or in a Little  creek off of the chopawamsic? or near a large object in the water like a bridge or a dock? i really apreciate the time and the help

You have to pay for shipping...Go to Shady Lane Seafood in Colonial Beach, Va. 804-224-7878...Buy your pots, rebar, rope, floats, gloves, etc...You'll need a rec license for Potomac River...Potomac River Fisheries Commission 804-224-7148...Once you have those taken care of, let me know
