Hi guys, I am new to the site.  Long story short about me, I used to live in NJ my whole life, I am now stationed and live in Texas (West by the border).  I purchased a fish tank off someone and it is my intention to keep a blue crab in there...

I am not anywhere close to water as I used to be in New Jersey.  Anything by the water is a long drive for me with my training schedule.   So, was wondering 2 things.  One (long shot, i know), is there anyone that would be willing to catch and send me a legal size crab for my tank?  All expenses covered, of course, and I would make it worth your time.

Or, does anyone know if there is somewhere close to say San Antonio I can buy live seafood to bring back or a place online.  I have looked at some online and have seen that some companies ship live crabs but you have to order a bunch.  If thats the case, the crab I want to put in a tank will end up costing me more than I paid for my tank setup.

Any help appreciated.  Thanks.  I miss NJ for Blue Crabs.  I never had to keep them because I always had access to them.

I hope you can find someone close to you that can help.  As for keeping pet crabs use the words aquarium crab in the search function of the forum. There has been a ton of discussions about the subject (if you haven't done that already).

I D K, i happen to think they made excellent pets!  a lot more interesting than many other things you can put in a tank...

My tank is set up now and I have a 4 day weekend next week... probably going to head for the shore a couple of days.  Do some fishing and bring some crabs back!

When I was a kid we used to crab around Rockport a lot.  It is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours south of San Antonio.  There were several public piers back then, but it has been it has been about 40 years ago.  There were also a lot of seafood markets in the area.

Good Luck

I raised a crab in a 55-gallon aquarium... he started out about at about 1" and grew to about 6" before he died... it was a lot of fun and I plan to do it again when I get settled in my new house.
