Good morning all, tomorrow will be my 1st time crabbing, I plan to go to the Navesink River, I own 2 crab cages, do they have bait down there? Also do you recommend renting a boat? Im excited to give this new hobby a try. Any other hot spots I should consider? Thanks so much

Red Bank Marina rents bpats but not cheap. They have rowboats and ones with trolling motors. Any area is a good spot but there are tons of jellyfish right now and they do stings when you bring them ip in the baskets. Try live lining too they grab onto anything from bunker and chicken. And yes they do sell bait

If you rent a boat....get two others to go with you split the cost about $20 a person. Go to Walmart pick up half dozen handlines about $2 a piece.  Go to Shop Rite pick up chicken wings........Old Bay Seasoning, Apple Cider Vinegar and prepare for the best meal of your life.

agreed, but I'd go with SKINLESS drumsticks. make sure you have 2 anchors in the boat and a long net.  try in about 4 ft of water and anchor boat from each end of boat(towards the shore).   AND  HAVE  FUN  !!!!!       dont forget the cold beer at home !!
