Have not crabbed in many years. looking to crab off a dock on Long island, Suffolk county. Does anyone know if a permit is required? they keep changing things everywhere. Also can anyone recommend a location to take the kids for crabs?

You do not need a crabbing permit on Long Island. There is a bill that passed senate and is awaiting the governor to sign which will make it so no one requires a fishing license. Also, some good places to crab on long island are Bay Park or Wantagh Park.
