Went to port orange florida (Just South of Daytona beach). Went later in the day as the heat of the day was starting to fade. Started crabbing at 5pm, ended a little before 8pm with 45 nice keepers. They were absolutely packed with meat too for some reason. Most were females, which I dont usually like to keep, so I adopted a new thing for keepers...

I wasnt keeping any less than 5 1/4 that were females. Figure they are near the ends of their lives anyway since they are so big that majority of them wont even produce any more kids anymore...obviously threw back pregnant females. Good day in all. They were delicious.

Going again in a few days and I'll post a report.

I have found that the folks in Florida seem to prefer to eat the females.
Everywhere else they prefer the males.

Thanks for the report and enjoy those crabs!
It sounds like all of Florida is producing crabs right now.
For the last three years they have been few and far between!
Especially in the Daytona to New Smyrna area.
