What kinds of licenses might I need?

I'm looking at possibly getting into crabbing, and I've done some research as to what licenses I might need, but I'm confused by the VMRC regs. What licenses would I need to go out on a boat, put out 50-100 crab pots, then sell the crabs I catch to local markets/stores? Also, how much would all these licenses cost? Thanks

 THERE IS A WAITING LIST FOR LICENSES

THEY WERE BUYING UP  UN USED LICENSES LAST YEAR, IM ON THE LIST  HAVE BEEN FOR 2 YEARS

You would need to buy a 100 pot license from someone and also buy a watermans card.  I had the chance last season to buy a 300 pot license for 4500.  Then was offered a card and license for 1000 but that was under unusual circumstances.  Today you would be lucky to find one for less the 12,000 for just the license. 

Also, VA only allows 100 transfers per year.  They happen pretty quick so you have to act early.  Beaware that VA has place allot of license on a inactive list.  If you happen to buy one of those, you may never get to use it...
