At some point I had a crab seosoning from Maryland that had a yellow color to it.  Does anyone know where to get that kind of seasoning?  I believe Schnaitmans had it years ago.

I think Sysco sells the yellow spice. I had it at a restaurant in Florida.
It tastes a lot like JO but isn't!
Sysco is a major food purveyor for restaurants.

Good idea! idea  I got enough JO for only one more pot.  Gonna give Sysco's seasoning a try.  Be allot easier on me then trying to get up to Joppa each year.  Smiley

You have a Sysco cash and carry store near you Jack? I asked our rep the other day about one in my area but said they didn't have one. One of our other purveyors does and I can get some deals there. 25# bags of flour, #10 cans of things, etc. Sometimes he gives me the price I'd get at work too if I'm doing a fund raiser.

I'm gonna stick with JO.  The Sysco stuff looks and smells like old bay.  Sysco guy told me its "baltimore spice".  Huh My neighbor has used it and said they didn't like it. Bottom line is the sysco seasoning is more expensive then JO at Amriens...

Several years ago, before joining this forum and learning from you guys a lot of things about crabs and crabbing that I didn't know before.....and THANKS... Cheesy,  I bought some steamed crabs from a place (tourist trap..... (I know that now.... laugh) on Kent Island.  I slso bought some spice from them.  The said it was their own mix of Old Bay and JO..has anybody mixed the two or have their own recipe that they can divulge?  I never tried anything other then Old Bay. What does Chuck use when you get your crabs steamed?  If it's JO what # is it?   Thanks again..... Smiley

J.O. will custom mix and label their seasonings for their wholesale customers. A lot of crabhouses alter the recipe just a little so they can call it their "own" mix. J.O. won't sell anybody's special mix to the public.

Does anyone know if Harbor Spice Co. is still in business?  A friend of mine operated a seafood market and got his seasoning from them and I thought it was the best.
