3 pots/traps, 2 day soak. Ended up with 15 medium sized crab after culling 3 females with eggs. Took my brother in-laws from Ohio with me, they had a blast pulling traps and eating crabs! Not a huge catch but it was enough. Fished between the Stuart and Jensen Beach causeways in the Indian River Lagoon, just minutes from home

Thanks for the report!
Glad to hear you got some.
I just got back from the New Smyrna area.
I didn't see much crabbing at all.
They said they had a good summer crabbing but it has slowed way down now.

Ive been doing great in the fort pierce area, got 42 in four traps on the 16th of November, let all the females go too. Seems the shallower I put them the better I do.

There was another recent local report of shallow water producing good results. Thanks for the report on a great catch!

How long is the crabbing season in the Stewart area? My sister and family live there now. I live in Annapolis on the Chesapeake Bay and had a HUGE SUMMER crabbing here. Actually caught 3 dozen on 11/18/2010 in 40 degree weather.
I sent them crabs via overnight shipping. Now I know they can catch them themselves.

I do not have much blue crab experience. I think they catch them in Stuart all year long. Maybe one of the guys with more experience can chime in. I have spent the last 25 or 30 summers diving for Florida lobster (Crawfish/Spiny Lobster). Crawfish I know about, not so much about the blue crab.

We snorkel for them. Shallow water in the Fl Keys usually bayside around Islamorada. About 6 to 12 feet deep.
