I don't know much about either place but there are lots of places to crab and fish around Merrit and Cocoa.
The Banana River is supposed to be good for crabs.
You will also find shrimp in either location!
Good luck where ever you end up!

go to cocoa beach down ramp rd then take the left channel out to the bananna river the best spot is from sign to sign or where the sand bar drops; when they r there they r BIG but beware of all the spider crabs

remember, God gave crabs only 2 arms, but 8 legs.............they move......ask a tackle shop...also it's the middle of the winter,,,at a spot where i caught many crabs in august, you could soak a chicken neck for a month and still have enough meat on it to make soup..
