While the move from MM to QV isn't good for most of you, it worked out well for me.  Only a 15 minute drive now instead of a 40 minute drive.  If anyone wants some necks for the upcoming season, let me know and we'll work out a deal.  Their hours are worse than MM however.  M-F 6A-12P and S 7A-10A.  Is it spring yet?

Called Mike at The Meathouse at Berlin Farmer Market to inquire about a case of chicken necks, he was expecting a case this afternoon, but wasn't sure of price. Headed there a little while later and the shipment had come in, $20 for the 40# case. He has only been getting a case at a time, but I informed him there is a market around this area since Moyer Mitchell was bought out. Just make sure to call a few days in advance so he has them in stock when you head over. The hours are much friendlier then Moyer Mitchell.

So Moyer-Mitchell closes down in 2016 (bought out by Quaker Valley and immediately shut down).

I tried Bringhurst Meats in Berlin but, a) the hours are terrible, b) the necks must come from baby chickens, and they're overpriced.  Don't mind paying more but not for pinky-sized necks.

Bought last year from Meathouse of South Jersey in the Berlin Farmer's Market.  Called this morning and they answered "Pete's Discount".  I asked if this was the Meathouse and the girl said "yes".  She asked the butcher who said they don't sell chicken necks.

I called Restaurant Depot in Pennsauken who said they sell backs, not necks.

Anyone have any ideas?

I was at Bringhurst yesterday, the 40# chicken backs were $21.60 and the 40# necks were $26.60. I got there near closing and it was still packed so I didn't have time to see what size they were. Also the guy said they were fresh, never frozen.

City Beef Co has necks for $20 for 40 pounds. Or $.50 a pound. That is in Trenton NJ.

Dutchs Meats Inc has necks for $22 for 40 pounds. Or $.55 a pound. That is in Ewing NJ.

Yanks Farms has necks for $25.50 for 40 pounds. or $.64 a pound. That is in Chester PA.

Master Baiters Tackle and Crabbing Supplies has necks for $19.99 for 40 pounds. Or $.50 a pound. That is in New Castle DE.

The meat market in the Amish Market in Mullica Hill NJ at Rt 45 and Rt 322 also sometimes carries necks but they will be closer to $.75 to $.90 cents a pound and most times they only have 5 or 10 pounds in stock.
