Maybe I"m crabbing in the wrong spot.  I got 2 dozen crabs out of the five pots I have out in the Mattaponi River, but they were all keepers.  And, you are right, crab in the mud.

on the mattaponi, i see the best crabbing closer to the deep water. we use 50 feet of rope and 5/8 frames to hold the pots on the bottom.
