I just moved to Louisiana an was wandering if you had to have a license if your only crabbing with string and chicken?  I was told the limit is 5 doz per car no size limit.  I went with a friend twice and he told me we didnt have to have a license?...I just want to double check

12 doz. per person/per day catch limit and you only need a licence if you are crabbing with traps or on national/state parks and wild life refuges. to crab with traps you need a crabbing licence that will allow use of up to 10 traps. crabbing with string and/or nets on public/private land without a licence is no problem.

trap limit has been reduced from 12 to 10. also added correct catch limit info. (thanks game warden who told me otherwise, lol.)

dont take my word for it though, get it straight from the source.

Actually there is a "catch" limit of 12 dozen per vehicle/boat per day, state refuges/WMA's/National Wildlife Refuges have site specific regulations that you will need to check into.
