Rent a boat and work with handlines in the back bays.

Captain Moose spent his days as a young mooseling in that area.    He probably will follow up with more specifics for you.

For boat rentals I like Dad's boat rental in North Wildwood on the way to Stone Harbor which will give you access to Grassy Sound.  If you are from shore, on the way to Cape May, before the draw bridge there are a couple of spots you will see but they get crowded quickly.  There is a dock you can pay to go on in the Crest on Sunset Lake but I never did well there.  If you have kids it is convenient though.  Some of the streets dead end into the bay with bulkheads and you can check them out as well.  It has been a while since I have been down there but there was another place I used to go in North Wildwood.  Looking at a map I think it might have been at the corner of West Chestnut and Maryland Avenues.  Wildwood has a great marshy bay system that is perfect for crabbing, you just need to find access.

Dad's is good for boat rentals.  There are lots of spots to crab from shore.  In N. Wildwood just after you get onto the island from the north end, turn right and there is a nice bulkhead there with good water.  On Rio Grande Blvd on the way onto the island from Exit 4, there are a few good spots to stop along the side of the road to crab.  Off Ocean Drive on the south end just past 2 Mile Inn there is a good spot to crab near the road.  Look for the wooden railing across the drain pipe.  Continuing south on Ocean Drive, just over the toll bridge there are 2 small bridges.  You can stop near those and walk out onto the marsh to crab from shore.

Good luck & let us know how you do and where you tried.
