Sea snails ? Shellfish license ?

I have a habbit of collecting sea snails and crustaceans during low tide at the beach . Is that illegal ? Do i need a shellfish license to picking them snails off the rocks ? Some of my friends said "YES" . Just curious from the more professionals we have in this forum for precise answer . Thank you guys !!

After a little bit of searching...
Snails would be considered benthic mollusks, which make it required to have a license in order to harvest them. They can also only be harvested in designated areas by the Bureau of Shellfisheries.

Thank you Ron for the piece of information. Just what i needed , as well get a shellfish license so next time i go find some sea snails i can also do some clamming also .

Escargot sound yummy !! Sea snails cooked in butter is my favorite! Anyone try eating conchs or whelks before ? Conch fritters taste very good !

Remember to consult the shellfish maps to ensure that you can harvest from the beach where you are finding the snails.
